About Centroamericanto Fest
A little bit of history
In 2003 "Centroamericanto" was born as the first portal about the music made in Central America, with a special focus on original music that portraits the culture and life in the region. The portal developed direct contact with several of the most important authors and with their support and the help of a group of volunteers it has been on the web uninterruptedly for 8 years and praises it self to host a vibrant community of artists and to be known as a respected source of information about Central American music.
The need of getting together and make the virtual connection that started in 2003 a reality, led us to organize the first Centroamericanto Fest in 2005 in El Salvador, where local artists got together and held a concert with the participation of an International guest from Costa Rica (Esteban Monge). The same experience was repeated in 2010 in El Salvador at the cultural center of the Central American University (UCA) more than 10 songwriters and bands shared their music and experiences.
In 2011 we decided to raise the bar a little bit and started dreaming about bringing musicians from Central America to the U.S specifically Austin TX, place where Centroamericanto is based, and now we offer to you this unique opportunity to see on stage some of the most important authors of Central America together. All this has been possible thanks to the support of our sponsors and volunteers that had believed on this project.
